Star Trek: Captain's Chair is a virtual reality tour of the bridges of five of the most famous starships in the Star Trek universe. Featured are the bridges seen in Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation. I'd been interested in visiting Star Trek Generations on a modern pc. Download ISO of the CDs, then you should install the game as normal (full install). Bridge Commander; SFC was fun but what if you could control.

October 9, 2018 Welcome to the Age of Discovery Captains, welcome to Age of Discovery! This is a landmark event for Star Trek Online as it marks the first time that the game has run in parallel with a live Trek television show. Star Trek: Bridge Commander, a really nice simulation game sold in 2002 for Windows, is available and ready. 423 MB DownloadISO Version English version. Star Trek: Captain's Chair is a simply amazing game. The amount of detail and information contained within are almost on a par with some of the previously. Star Trek: Borg is mostly about the Borg, but it's also about Q, that supposedly omnipotent superbeing who has served as a guide, aide and gadfly to some of Starfleet's captains. Q is the one who is guiding you through your journey to Wolf 359, and humanity's conflict with the Borg.

Everything you need to know about the convoluted history of Captain Kirk's predecessor.
By Adam DiLeo

Star Trek: Discovery's second season hits CBS All Access this week, and fans were left hanging when the first season ended with a stunning tease as the Discovery found itself face to face with the USS Enterprise. The famous ship's arrival naturally led to the assumption (which was later confirmed) that we'd be meeting a younger version of lead character Michael Burnham's adoptive brother Spock, who will be played by Ethan Peck.

But since Discovery takes place about 10 years before the events of Captain Kirk's The Original Series adventures on the Enterprise, the current commanding officer of the ship is Captain Christopher Pike (played by Inhumans' Anson Mount on Discovery), who Trek history tells us helmed the Enterprise just before James Kirk took over. Though Pike only played a minor role in The Original Series in its final form (more on that in a moment), the character has endured across several films and television series and has been portrayed by four different actors to date. So let's take a moment to get to know the first commanding officer of the Enterprise to give the order, 'Engage!'

Captain Pike Explained: The Original Original Series

The character Christopher Pike first appeared in the scrapped Star Trek pilot episode 'The Cage'. The episode was poorly received by the brass at NBC who believed it was too 'cerebral' and lacking in action. Famously the network decided that, rather than throw out Gene Roddenberry's idea entirely, a new pilot would be commissioned. When the new pilot was picked up for a full season of what would become the original Star Trek series - with William Shatner now cast as Kirk - the producers decided not to waste the 'Cage' footage, encasing most of the original pilot in a two-part flashback episode dubbed 'The Menagerie.' In those episodes, Kirk's Enterprise encounters Pike, the ship's retconned former captain, now retired and confined to a computerized wheelchair.

Jeffrey Hunter as the original Captain Pike

Interestingly, Pike was not, in fact, the first captain of the Enterprise. That honor went to Robert April who commanded the vessel when it first launched (as confirmed in Star Trek: The Animated Series). After April left the Enterprise, Pike took over. 'The Cage' takes place about two or three years before Star Trek: Discovery Season 1 (the timeline is a bit fuzzy). Pike, played by prolific film actor Jeffrey Hunter, is vastly different than Captain Kirk. He's a much darker and more introspective character, shown to be filled with regret and self-doubt, possessing much less of the cocky swagger that William Shatner's Kirk would eventually bring.

Pike starts the episode in the throes of a crisis of conscience and is actually contemplating resigning his commission after a recent mission went bad, resulting in the deaths of some of his crew. His friend and ship's doctor Philip Boyce (John Hoyt) talks him out of it over a couple of medicinal martinis just as Leonard Nimoy's Mr. Spock (the only character to make the jump from the first pilot to the actual series) informs him that they now have reliable intelligence suggesting there may be survivors of a crashed Earth vessel on a nearby planet. Before this confirmation Pike had actually decided to ignore any potential survivors and instead focus on getting his injured crew to a Starfleet medical facility. It's a confounding, less than heroic introduction to the show's protagonist and the crew's grim reaction to Pike's decision is on full display.

Pike takes his away team to find the survivors of the crash on the planet Talos IV. There he meets what appears to be a group of older men who say they've been stranded some 18 years. Among them, however, is the lovely Vina (Susan Oliver), who immediately captures Pike's attention. She declares that he's an ideal specimen, which he doesn't think is weird at all, before leading him into a trap set by the native Talosians. Pike is taken prisoner and told he's been chosen to be Vina's mate in a sort of zoo with the intention of using the pair as breeding stock to repopulate the planet with a race of slaves. It's just a super plan all around.

With the help of his first officer, who is only ever referred to as Number One (played by Majel Barrett, who would return in The Original Series as Nurse Chapel), Pike is able to outwit the Talosians by showing that humans would rather die than live in captivity. Vina, however, must stay behind. While she was the only one who actually did survive the crash all those years earlier, her injuries and the Talosians' crappy first aid left her hideously disfigured and unwilling to leave the planet. Only the illusory powers of the Talosians allow her to remain both looking and feeling healthy.

One Beep for 'The Menagerie'

Pike's story continues in the first season TOS two-parter 'The Menagerie,' which takes place 13 years after the events of 'The Cage.' By this point Pike, now promoted to the rank of Fleet Captain, has been out of action for a few years, having suffered a debilitating injury while saving some cadets during a training mishap. The accident left him paralyzed and unable to speak or to leave his life-supporting wheelchair. Out of loyalty to his former captain, Spock commandeers the Enterprise and returns Pike to Talos IV, where the power of the Talosians can allow him to see himself as once again young and healthy. The episode is framed as a court martial for Spock and the footage from 'The Cage' is used to explain the reasons for his actions. The paralyzed Pike was played by Sean Kenney.

The Abramsverse Pike

Played by Bruce Greenwood, Captain Pike returned in the 2009 J.J. Abrams reboot film. In this alternate timeline, Kirk's father died much younger than he did in the original Trek chronology. The upshot is that Kirk ends up getting recruited into Starfleet by Pike, who becomes something of a mentor to the young cadet. This Pike's tenure as captain of the Enterprise is much shorter than the original as he's quickly taken prisoner and tortured by the villain Nero, paving the way for Kirk to make the improbable jump from cadet to captain in record time. Kirk eventually rescues Pike, but the final scenes of the film show that Pike's injuries have him once again (at least temporarily) using a wheelchair to get around.

Bruce Greenwood as Pike in 2009's Star Trek reboot

Greenwood returned to the role in 2013's Star Trek Into Darkness. In a bit of a reversal, Pike, now an admiral, retakes command of the Enterprise from Kirk as punishment for the younger officer's violating the Prime Directive. His stint as commanding officer is once again short-lived, however, as he doesn't even make it to the ship before he's murdered by the villainous Khan, played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Other References

Pike's name pops up a few more times in official Trek canon. For example, in The Original Series mirror universe episode 'Mirror, Mirror' we learn that the alternate universe Kirk killed his predecessor to take control of the Enterprise. Pike is also the namesake of a service medal awarded to Deep Space Nine's Captain Benjamin Sisko. Beyond the TV shows and movies, Pike also appears in a number of books, short stories and comics, most notably Marvel's Star Trek: Early Voyages, which depicts the Enterprise under Pike's command. One of the books in which he's mentioned, Dark Victory, was written by none other than William Shatner. Pike doesn't feature prominently but the book, in which Kirk teams up with Jean-Luc Picard to take on his mirror universe doppelganger, bears some similarities to what happened with Captain Lorca in Star Trek: Discovery's first season. And speaking of Discovery, Pike's name appears on a computer screen list of most decorated captains in a brief Easter egg in the episode 'Choose Your Pain.'

Anson Mount Takes the Captain's Chair

And now Anson Mount will be the next actor to take over the role of Captain Pike. He'll be in charge of the Enterprise in Star Trek: Discovery Season 2, though not much else is known about what else he'll be doing, except that it seems he'll leave his ship -- which at the end of Season 1 was seen sending out a distress call -- to take command of the Discovery in order to tackle the 'imminent threat' of the so-called 'red angel.'
